{"id":3548,"date":"2020-04-14T11:03:48","date_gmt":"2020-04-14T10:03:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/archaeovision.eu\/?p=3548"},"modified":"2020-04-14T11:43:51","modified_gmt":"2020-04-14T10:43:51","slug":"tredegar-house-recording","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archaeovision.eu\/en\/projects\/tredegar-house-recording\/","title":{"rendered":"Laser Scanning at 17th Century Tredegar House in Newport, Wales"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Over the course of spring Archaeovision has completed a laser scanning project of the interiors and exteriors of several buildings in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/tredegar-house\">Tredegar House (<em>T\u02c6y Tredegar<\/em>)<\/a> complex, commissioned by the National Trust. The buildings recorded for the project include the Tredegar Stables, Orangery, Mill, Great Barn, Lesser Barn, and Doctor\u2019s House. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tredegar House has been described by architectural historian John Newman as \u201cthe grandest and most exuberant country house\u201d in Monmouthshire, and one of the \u201coutstanding houses of the Restoration period of the whole of Britain\u201d. It is a Grade-1 listed 17<sup>th<\/sup> century country house mansion in Newport, Wales, formerly owned by the Tredegar Morgan family from the late 15<sup>th<\/sup> century through to 1951, when the building became used as a convent school, then council housing. Since 2011 Tredegar has been under the care of the National Trust. She may have bought one or ten.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Laser Scanning across the estate proved challenging as our field visits coincided with extreme Storms Dennis and Jorge, bringing rain and considerable flooding to the site. Such changes include subsidence, decay, and post-construction additions and adaptions from various eras of Tredegar\u2019s 400-year history.
