Informatics Position

Archaeovision is a digital consultancy with extensive experience in the fields of web science, informatics, knowledge organisation and spatial technologies. Based in the UK and Estonia, we offer our services across the EU. Our team consists of archaeologists and heritage professionals, all with higher qualifications in digital humanities subjects and extensive publication records; leading specialists in the field who actively contribute to sectoral standards and include members of the Society of Antiquaries of London and CIfA,  national and international committees and working groups, as well as thematic and local research groups.

Archaeovision are seeking to recruit Consultants in the field of informatics. Applicants will be based in the UK, covering predominately the South of England but must willing to travel around the UK and Europe at short notice.

Successful applicants will be engaged on a project-by-project basis, working at a number of important heritage sites across the UK for national bodies, universities and small archaeological units. There are long-term career prospects available within the team should consultants show active engagement with the company. Training will be provided in the various recording approaches used by Archaeovision.

You will need a good understanding of digital technologies in heritage, a conscientious and efficient approach to work, and a willingness to travel to sites at short notice.

You will need digital archaeological fieldwork experience, familiarity with specialised software packages, and a full (clean) UK driving license. You will be highly motivated, wiling to learn and thrive in a pressured consultancy environment.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • A MA/MSc Degree in art or art history, archaeology, history, architecture, heritage studies, engineering, surveying or equivalent experience
  • Registered as a PCIfa/MCIfA or RICS (or have the potential to)
  • Digital heritage fieldwork experience
  • A good broad understanding of the archaeology of Southern England from the prehistoric period to the 20th century
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Working familiarity with Laser Scanning, Photogrammetry, RTI, Computed Tomography, Multispectral Imaging, Structured Light Scanning, Building Surveying, BIM, drone based recording, and 3D modelling software packages
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Professional archaeological report writing experience
  • Project Management experience
  • A full UK Driving License
  •
